Sign Up for the Dog Day 5k!

If you live in the Twin Cities Metro Area, I highly recommend that you sign up for the Dog Day 5k coming up this Saturday, June 9th. It is a casual event where you can walk or run and with or without your/a dog.

Registration is $35 when you sign up by tomorrow June 5th, then $40 on race day.

The first 5k “race” {I use that term loosely because it didn’t feel like one} I completed {not ran, because you don’t have to run this race} was the Dog Day 5k in 2010. I took my little Shih poo Sophie with the intent to walk with friends. Somehow, we got split up and Sophie and I completed the walk with a few short intervals of runs in 48:someoddseconds. It was so much fun! You can see us on the photo page here {012-004, 012-005, 012-006}.

Now I want to do it again – only run it this time.

In 2010, the race route was in Minneapolis. This year it is taking place in Waconia around the lake and will also be in conjunction with the Lake Waconia Half Marathon.

If you love dogs or want to walk or run in a casual environment, then this is the place to be! This time, Rob will be walking Sophie because I’m not sure she’ll be able to run the whole thing with me. Besides, instead of Rob photographing me at the finish line, I can return the favor by taking one of Sophie and greeting her {uh, them} as they come in with our friends and their dogs!

So come and check it out. It’s going to be a lot of fun.

Oh, and BTW, I did my second-ever 5k race this past weekend. 😉 Come back tomorrow for a recap.
