Two Shih Tzus on a Couch

Standard

Sophie & Shamrock Saturday

Sophie and Shamrock don’t love Phoebe the way Rob and I do, mostly because we are jealous of all the attention we give her. And she wants to play all the time! But they do pretty well with her, nonetheless. Imagine my little heart a-flutter when I looked over and found the two Shih Tzus on a couch together!

Happy Saturday!

Sophie & Shamrock Saturday

It’s been a while since I’ve posted about the pooches. But this time of year, there is a lot of hibernating going on…

I got the pooches these little dog beds around the holidays because they were on sale for around $10. Rob said they were too small. Technically, he was right. But the larger sizes started at $25/each. And I figured when they curl up into their little sleeping-dog-crescent-shapes…

It  took a long time to try to get Sham to get into his little bed. Training treats didn’t even really work. Until one day, I put the bed under my desk while I was working:

shamrock-bed-3He still loves the butterfly pillows his Auntie Sally gave them (pictured left), but now we’ve got little beds and pillows in the office, the living room and in the basement. Sham is a little protector (just ask Auntie Sally!) and needs to follow me nearly everywhere. He’ll have a place to sit no matter where I am… He might even fall asleep…

Pup Cup

Standard

Shamrock & Sophie Saturday

Last weekend, while daddy was out of town, Sophie and Sham got their first Starbucks Puppuccino. It’s not on the menu, so you just have to ask. I believe they are free. {Which, if that is the case, that means that a medium Americano is about a dollar more at Starbucks than Caribou. And it takes 20 minutes to get through the Starbucks drive-thru line! DOH!}

IMG_7580

The puppuccino has no caffeine. It’s just a bit of whipped cream in a cup. I, personally, would rather call it a Pup Cup! Needless to say, they were enjoyed.

IMG_7581

But see Sophie up there^^?

She tipped her cup upside down and made a mess on the seat!

IMG_7582

Sure, she licked it clean; but the seat’s a little crusty now. What would you recommend using to clean it?

Happy Saturday!

Diablo is Back! {The story of cats}

Standard

Shamrock & Sophie Saturday

Last weekend, while Rob was out of town, Shamrock started barking loudly at the front door. No one had even rung the doorbell. I went to the door and peered out. No one there. I went to the dining room to look out that window… AHA!

It was Diablo!IMG_6817

Diablo’s owners never did return our call. So we figured that they are okay with him roaming the neighborhood. I actually saw him earlier that morning when I went on my run. He darted out of our driveway toward his house {presumably}, but hid behind the curb at the intersection, with his little ears seeming to peer apprehensively over the tall grass of our neighbor’s yard. I just said, “Hello!” and went on my not-so-merry way. {It was a hard run.}

When Diablo spotted me in the window, he came towards it. Even when I put a chair up to the window so the dogs could see, he didn’t seem phased by their barks.

IMG_6818

I did not grow up with cats; so I’m not sure how to take care of one. I mean, that litterbox stuff and all that. I do like kitties, but learned I was allergic after countless sleepovers at the neighbor’s place as a kid. My eyes swell up so badly. I have since learned that I can usually be around them as long as I make sure not to touch my face after petting them!

Diablo made himself at home…

IMG_6820

Seems quite comfortable on our porch, no? Our dogs are semi-used to cats. I say this because Rob’s parents used to have a cat named Westie. Whenever we’d go to visit, Sophie would play with him. They’d use their paws to box! It was so adorable. Until one day, when Westie passed away. The next time we went to visit, Sophie went into the house and immediately went looking for Westie – under the bed, in all of his hiding spots. When she came into the room where all of us were catching up and just started whining, my heart broke. 😦

Rob’s parents now have Abby, with whom Sophie does not play. Instead, Sham terrorizes her. As he does our friend Sally and Ryan‘s cats when we visit them! I *think* he is just playing…

Still even if Diablo was trying to ring our doorbell to come in and play…

IMG_6821

I’m not sure if I want to find out if Sham is just being playful or not!

Happy Saturday!

The Buggles!

Standard

Sophie & Shamrock Saturday

Sophie and Sham hosted some friends this past week.

Look at these a-dog-able little Buggles!

Cleopatra is the shy tri-color Cavalier. At the beginning of the week, it was hard to coax her out her kennel.

IMG_2605

Though nervous, she soon warmed up. What I find absolutely darling is that her markings make her look like she is always angry with you.

But she most certainly is not! She’ll give you that look even while she wags her tail or you give her a treat. My heart is melting. ❤

Her older brother, DaVinci, is much more social.

IMG_2608

 He sat on my lap all Sunday morning and snuggled!

IMG_2614

I used to call DaVinci my make-out buddy when my friend Sally picked him up ten years ago. He’s always got that tongue hanging out and loves to give kisses. Some things never change!

Rob spent one weekend morning with the kids in the backyard. Look how green everything is starting to get. Yay, spring!

IMG_2635

I adore that photo, especially DaVinci’s pose because that is classic him. I just wish we could see Clea’s head!

I got a few close-ups instead:

We had such a nice week of weather, that DaVinci’s favorite thing to do quickly became lying underneath our hammock {and, often, drifting off to sleep}.

Oh how I will miss the Buggles. Until next time…

Happy Saturday!

Doggies Get Fit!

Standard

Sophie & Shamrock Saturday!

~

April’s BarkBox is all about fitness…

IMG_2520

Shamrock went straight for those boxing gloves!

IMG_2527

I thought that Sophie and Sham might finally play tug with those, but it has yet to happen. At least they still play. All. The. Time. I love that they are playmates! We never would have known when we adopted Sham that they would become such buds.

But back to The Box

There was another toy in the box that didn’t get photographed. It’s a rubber squeaky toy, in the shape of a ball, but with feet and muscles! Ha. Sophie loved rolling around on it one night. She used to do this with a toy long ago that we called “binky.” It had little rubber spikes that she loved to roll on. We can’t find anything like it. Maybe this will be the replacement?

And the treats:

IMG_2522

Per the usual, our dogs had no complaints about these treats. They were also happy that we received another barkworthy chew. This meant that now that one that momma had been saving would mean that each could have their own. 🙂

Sophie Jean would like to present her slideshow:

She is a-dog-able, no? Even with that stained little beard. {I think we need start giving her filtered water!}

And all the while, Sham just napped.
