Simplifying 2016

Standard

It’s been a little crazy around these parts!

My job IRL was quite busy leading up to the end of the year. Luckily, Christmas in Green Bay was rather relaxing. I even spent Christmas Day entirely in my brand new pajamas.

Yes, that is me sans make-up and looking disheveled on The Internets. Because sometimes we have to just accept that we are who we are and we look like what we look like.

Besides, cozy fleece pajamas depicting a stocking cap-wearing penguin riding an earmuff-wearing polar bear make me (& Sophie Jean) happy. So happy that she wants to give me kisses…

If only I had photographed the pajama pants!

As the new year begins, I feel both tranquil and restless at the same time, if that makes any sense whatsoever. I want to simplify. When I simplify, I feel tranquil. When things are too complicated, I get anxious.

I’ve always loved the idea of picking a theme or a word for a year rather than make an attempt at a lofty resolution. However, I didn’t really put any thought into doing it until this morning.

This is the year I want to Simplify.

I want to simplify my relationships and weed out what’s toxic to me.

I want to simplify my home by decluttering.

I want to simplify my wardrobe by buying and wearing only the pieces that feel good, not just because they are a good deal.

I want to simplify working out so that it comes with ease. {I often suffer from analysis paralysis!}

I want to simplify cooking so that it doesn’t feel like work.

I want to simplify my days by doing what makes me happy.

And guess what, after writing a list of the things that make me happy, I’ve learned that list is much longer than I had expected.

Name three things that make you happy that you want to incorporate into your new year.

Cheers~
Carrie
